A session file is an ASCII text file that contains a structured list of session statements.  The statements define a work session including:

Page layout
Window content
Model, animation, plot and text information

Session files are generated whenever you save a work session in the program, and are saved with a .mvw extension.

Session files can also be created outside of the program using any text editor or they can be generated from other applications, such as Templex.  This allows you to automate the program by creating a complete session externally, specifying page layout, window contents, and views, and then loading the session in the program.  The data displayed in each window can either be located directly in the session file or it can be linked to an external model, result or data file.
