Highlights
Altair HyperXtrude is a suite of finite element solvers for simulating metal extrusion, polymer extrusion, metal rolling, friction stir welding, billet forging, and resin transfer molding processes. It has process specific features for each of these processes and supported with an easy use interface for setting up model data.
HyperXtrude for Metal Extrusion
Strain computation is improved to match experimental data. This is mainly accomplished by through the strain rate limits and velocity limits.
Solver is updated to improve the pressure prediction in bearing regions (after the bearing profile) and free surface regions.
HyperXtrude for Polymer Processing
Free surface and coextrusion material interface computation are improved. This avoids hot spots and also predicts the movement of material interface inside the domain.
Limits to handle the computations in dead zone regions have been modified. Residence time will be very high in dead zones and in regions where material is trapped. Solver is modified to handle these complexities.
