PARAM, INRGAP can be used during nonlinear gap analysis to improve the performance for some models.  In this method, an internal super element which includes all of the gap elements is created automatically, and the nonlinear iterations are only processed in this super element.  If the degrees-of-freedom associated with gap elements make up less than 3% of the total degrees-of-freedom and the gap elements are concentrated in one area of the model, this approach may be beneficial.  However, a performance gain is not guaranteed.
