Description

THCNTPEN

<AUTO, LOW, HIGH>

Default = AUTO

PARAM, THCNTPEN controls the penalty factor used in thermal contact analysis.

AUTO:
Determines the value of conductivity for each contact/gap element based on the conductivity of surrounding elements.

LOW:
Imposes a lower penalty factor that reduces the conductivity of each contact/gap element compared to the conductivities of the surrounding elements. It can be used when the program runs into convergence difficulties.

HIGH:
Imposes a higher penalty factor that increases the conductivity of each contact/gap element compared to the conductivities of the surrounding elements. It can be used to enforce stronger conduction.

Note:

1.Theoretically, while higher conductivity values enforce a perfect conductor, excessively high values may result in poor conditioning of the conductivity matrix. In such cases, it may be beneficial to reduce the value of conductivity, or use conductivity based contact clearance and pressure.
2.This parameter influences the KCHTC field of the PCONTHT bulk data entry and the KAHT field of the PGAPHT bulk data entry.
