Results Mapper provides a framework to initialize a structural model with results from a forming simulation.  It uses a Process Manager template, which leads you through a step-by-step process.  The steps include:

Loading a structural model
Forming simulation results into Fepre and HyperView
Selecting data to map
Exporting the mapped data in a structural solver format

Any scalar, vector, or tensor data that can be read into HyperView can be used for mapping.  The structural solvers currently supported for output are OptiStruct, Nastran, LS-DYNA, and Abaqus.  If the forming and structural models are in different coordinate frames, some geometric difference is tolerated and the results are transformed accordingly.

Note:The HyperWorks Results Mapper is in maintenance mode. Results Mapping Using HyperCrash is recommended as a general purpose mapping tool.

To use Results Mapper

1.Open HyperView.
2.Click View > Browser. The browser is displayed.
3.Select the Process tab.
4.Use the file browser to open a Process template.  In your HyperWorks installation, browse to /hw/tcl/fepre/hwrm and load the file hwrm.pmt. The HyperWorks Result Mapper dialog is displayed.
5.Select Create a new process instance and click OK.
6.Select a location and enter a name for the new process instance.
7.Click Create.
8.Browse and select the structural model file and click Import.
Note:You can either read the model as a HyperMesh/HyperForm database or as a Nastran, LS-DYNA, or Abaqus format ASCII input deck.
9.If several components exist in the model file, select the component that needs to be initialized.
10.If the structural model is in a different orientation than the forming model, a set of 3 nodes and a base point must be specified for establishing the coordinate transformation between the two models. Prior review of the forming model may be required to obtain the appropriate N1, N2, and N3.  Select the positioning nodes and click Apply.
11.Click Browse..., select the results file, and click Import.
Note:Any data format supported by HyperView, including H3D, can be used as the results file.

This action splits the HyperView window into two windows and loads the last stage of the forming simulation in the second window.  If an earlier stage is desired for the mapping, use the animation controls.

12.Display the component that contains the forming results to be mapped.
13.Use a set of nodes N1, N2, N3 and a base point from the forming model if it is at a different orientation than the structural model.
14.Activate the Select Mapping Parameter check box and select the result quantity to be mapped.
Note:Depending on whether the chosen parameter is a nodal or elemental quantity as written out from the forming solver, the Mapping method will display the information. If the structural solver requires it to be different, the switching can be done from the Mapping method.
15.If necessary, supply scaling factors for the model or result.
16.Click Apply.
17.Under Template choose the structural solver for which the mapped data is desired.
18.Browse to the directory where you want this data to be written and provide the file name. You can either choose an existing input data file where the mapped data needs to be appended or supply a new file name. Click Save.
19.Click Exec to complete the mapping and write out the data.

At the end of the mapping, the window containing the forming model is split into two windows in order to compare the mapped results contour between the structural model and the forming model.

20.To map a different result quantity, go back to Select Mapping Parameters and select the desired Mapping parameter and repeat steps 15-19.
Note:When vectors or tensor quantities are mapped, only the first component is displayed for comparison. To display the other components, use the HyperView Contour panel.

Results Mapper Using HyperCrash

In real time practice, you may come across situation where the end results of formed parts have to be considered when it goes as a part of an assembly for structural analysis to depict a more realistic situation. To achieve this, HyperWorks Results Mapper is used.

HyperWorks Results Mapper (HWRM) is a HyperCrash based tool that provides a framework to initialize a structural model with results from a forming simulation. For output, the structural solvers currently supported are RADIOSS Y, RADIOSS STA, Abaqus and OptiStruct. The results are transformed as necessary if the forming and structural models are in different co-ordinate frames.

HyperWorks Results Mapper can be accessed from the Start menu, selecting Altair HyperWorks > Manufacturing Solutions > Results Mapper.
