Use the Transient panel to create an animation sequence from transient results. A stored animation sequence can be viewed by using the replay function.
This function requires you to use an analysis results file containing transient displacement data.
The parameter data type = is ignored if your graphics device cannot generate stress contour animation sequences. The menu item step by = allows you to control which simulations (every simulation, every other simulation, every third simulation, and so on) are included in the animation sequence. For example, if you want each simulation (from start with = to end with =) to be displayed in the animation sequence, set step by = to 1. To include every second simulation, set step by = to 2. Animation performance on the 2-D platforms improves as the window size decreases.
On the PC, X version, and 3-D platforms, if stress contour animation is not desired, set the data type to none (blank). This bypasses contour calculations when generating the animation sequences.
On the PC and 3-D platforms, the animation sequence can be saved in a replay file for later playback. To save the animation sequence, select create replay from the animation menu.
There are no subpanels on the Transient panel. All inputs and command buttons are located on the main panel.
Input |
Action |
start with |
Displays a list of the available simulations. Select the name of the simulation to be used as the starting point for calculating the deformed shape of the structure |
end with |
Specify the last simulation to be used in the animation sequence. If left blank, all the simulations after the starting one are used to generate the sequence. |
data type |
Select the name of the data type that should be used to calculate the deformed shape of the structure. |
title |
Title for the plot (optional). |
step by |
Enter a value indicating the frequency with which simulations should be included in the animation sequence. |
scale factor |
Result displacement multiplier |
reference |
Allows you to select the three nodes that define the coordinate system to be used as a reference point. |
The following action buttons appear:
Button |
Action |
transient |
Creates the animation sequence. |
prev / next |
The prev or next on the same line as the simulation changes only the simulation. The prev or next on the same line as the data type changes only the data type. If the simulation or data type is at the first position as found in the results file, selecting prev results in the simulation or data type being assigned to the last position in the file. If the simulation or data type is at the last position as found in the results file, selecting next results in the simulation or data type being assigned to the first position in the file. |
return |
Completes the translation and exits the panel. |
