The Model () is the root of the hierarchy in the Part browser. It represents the contents of the Engineering Solutions binary file and can contain part assemblies, parts, and components.

There are two types of parts and part assemblies supported in the browser: CAE and PDM. CAE parts ( ) and part assemblies ( ) can be imported into Engineering Solutions from the Import browser, or can be manually created in the Part browser by selecting Create > Part Assembly or Create > Part from the context menu. PDM parts ( ) and part assemblies ( ) can be imported into Engineering Solutions via a PDM generated PLMXML file. You cannot modify or delete any part assembly or part level entities.

Components can be created directly in the Part browser by selecting Create > Component from context menu.

Part sets (), which are used to group common or unique parts, can be created and managed in the Part browser's Part Set view.

Configurations (), which are used to organize parts and part sets that are mutually exclusive to a configuration, can be created and managed in the Part browser's Configuration view.
