The Add Object panel allows you to add a graphical representation as an object to a specific component (part) or modify an existing object.  This feature is only to be used for multi-body dynamics modeling (not FEA).

To access this panel, click on the Add Object button addObject-24 on the Tools toolbar, or select Add Object from the Tools menu.

Add Object panel

Each time you add an object to a model, it is added to the Added Objects list.  The component with which the object will move is selected from the input collector or Choose From List dialog and is then added to the Move with column next to the corresponding object.

You can define the properties of the graphical object you are adding to a component (part) using the following options.

Add object from

Select the graphic file (such as *.g) containing the object to be added to the model.  You can either use the file browser file_browser_icon_small to select the file or you can enter the name of the file path in the text field.  You can input any file supported by HyperView’s readers.  Valid file types are listed in the Input File dialog (click on the Files of type drop-down menu for a complete listing).

Select object

Allows you to select the object(s) to be added.  Once the object(s) are selected, click Add to add them to the Added Object list.

All

Selects all the objects in the graphic file.

Browse

Opens the Choose From List dialog where you can select individual objects.  Use the SHIFT or CTRL key to select multiple objects.

Move object with

Select the component with which you want the selected object(s) to move. You can either use the Component input collector to select a component by ID or click the expansion button exp-button and pick a component from the Choose From List dialog.

Reference system

The reference system is used for the positioning and transformation of an object.  The numbers applied in the Position tab and Transform tab are relative to the reference system.

The initial position and orientation of an added object are determined using the reference system.  Once a component is selected, the available systems in that component are displayed in the list box.  For MBD models, all the markers, LPRF, and global system are listed when a component (part) is selected.  HyperView places the added object in the position and orientation of the selected system.

Auto fit

Adjusts the view so that the graphic and added object fit in the window.  If this option is not selected, the view is not adjusted.

Position tab

Objects are positioned one at a time using origin, orientation, and scale values that are relative to the reference system.

position_tab

The following options allow you to translate, rotate, and scale an object:

Origin

Enter values to translate the object within its coordinate system.

Orientation

Enter values to rotate the object using Euler angles.

Scale

Enter values to scale the object three-dimensionally.

Apply

Applies your selections to the object and display them in the window.

Transform tab

During transformations, you can select multiple objects and transform them simultaneously.

transform_tab

The following options allow you to translate an object along an offset vector or rotate an object using rotational delta values:

Translate

Enter offset values for X, Y, and Z.

Rotate

Enter the rotational delta values for RX, RY, or RZ.

hmtoggle_plus1To add a graphical object to a component (part) and define its properties:
