Highlights
This release of HW supports the import export and GUI functionalities for EXODUS interfacing with Sierra structural dynamics solver.
Supported entities:
• | Materials: The list of materials used in Sierra Structural dynamics are in the Create > Materials menu. |
• | Blocks: Element blocks are supported both in binary format (EXODUS) and ASCII format (Sierra). Block cards will be written out for each element block with associated material and structural properties like “Thickness”, “NSM” (Non Structural Mass) etc., if defined with element block. Element block will also handle other property attributes for beam elements like beam sectional properties, mass properties, rigid and spring properties. Block cards with property attributes will be exported even for contact properties (tie joint property). |
• | Function/Plots: Time, frequency and/or spatially dependent functions for transient and frequency response analysis can be defined using the Function section. The functions can be grouped under a collector called "Plot." |
• | Coordinate Frames: Coordinate systems may be defined for reference to the materials, loads, and boundary conditions. The following types of local coordinate systems are supported: |
- | Rectangular or Cartesian for Cartesian systems |
- | Cylindrical for a cylindrical (polar system) |
- | Spherical for a spherical system. |
• | Loads: Loads and boundary conditions are specified within the Loads section. Supported loads include: |
• | Contacts/TiedJoint: Sierra SD supports contact definition through Tied surfaces named “TIED JOINT” or “TIED DATA.” The contact is between slave and master surfaces; surfaces are defined by “side sets” by using an entity called “contact surface.” |
• | Control cards: Input and output control cards, and solution setup definition is supported. |
- | Solution: Facilitates the selection of the solution type and associated solution control variables. |
- | Parameters: Provides a method to input parameters that are independent of the solution method or solver. |
- | Outputs: Determines which data will be written to the output file. Also called output request. |
