Sensors help you detect events of interest in a simulation as well as respond to the event in various ways.  For example, you may define a sensor to detect the event at which the constraint force in a hinge exceeds a critical value.  When this event occurs, you may deactivate the hinge to simulate failure of the joint and then restart the simulation

MotionSolve provides two types of sensor elements:

Description

Sensor_Event

Defines both the event to be detected and the action to be taken when the event is detected.

Sensor_Evaluate

Defines an expression to be evaluated when the event occurs.  Thus, the element may store a flag that represents the state of the system at the time of the event, or it may compute a signal value at the event time.
