In the data block $road_type, COSIN/road reads:

Road height, as a function of x, y, t and optional further COSIN/io parameters: z_function.  This function may be an arbitrary arithmetic expression as documented in COSIN/io, including 1D and 2D lookup tables, random values, etc.
