Highlights

This release includes several major usability improvements for HyperCrash: multi-edit enables you to modify multiple entities of the same subtype quickly; orthotropic material orientation can reviewed for shell and solids (RADIOSS only). Model checker is customizable and can be modified to follow company best practices/standard.

General Enhancements

hmtoggle_arrow1Multi-Edit

This enhancement allows to edit and modify multiple entities of the same type very quickly. For example: change the element formulation for a number of properties, update a flag in a number of contacts.

This feature is available on the following pages:

Rigid bodies
Contact Interface
Part (LS-DYNA only)
Property
Material
Element Panel

hmtoggle_arrow1Material Orientation

The material direction of shell elements can be reviewed from:

The part panel (for *PART_COMPOSITE)
The property panel (for /PROP/TYPE10; /PROP/TYPE11; *SECTION_SHELL…)
The tool bar (new icon allows to review fiber orientation on elements)
The model checker (orientation check)

hmtoggle_arrow1Model Checker

A number of enhancement have been made to allow the user to customize the Model Checker:

Checks can be organized in different model checker files
Level of checks can be changed easily in the right-click context menu
Modifications can be saved and maintained across sessions
Filtering capabilities allows you to show only errors, warnings

hmtoggle_arrow1Meshing Editing
Mirror functionality can now be applied in any direction
Nodes can be aligned between 2 nodes or points in the Move panel
Connection are now automatically deleted when the structural elements they refer to are deleted
Free nodes can be deleted via window selection mode

hmtoggle_arrow1Tied Contact Status

A new projection method is implemented and enables user to accurately report the number of untied nodes in a given tied contact. The level of the check in the Model Checker has been adjusted to match the level that will be reported by the solver based on the contact definition.

hmtoggle_arrow1Searching and Filtering

Search and filtering capabilities are available in generic panel; select in model and property/material file window. Entities can be searched by name, by ID, ID range, and so on.

Similar search capabilities are also available in the Model browser, but filtering is currently not available.

hmtoggle_arrow1Pre-simulation

Parameters defined to run pre-simulation for dummy positioner and seat deformer can be customized and saved as a user profile. This profile is saved in the preference file and kept across session.

hmtoggle_arrow1Seat Belt Routing

A slider bar allows to control the orientation of the end vector and the position of the middle node.

RADIOSS Block User Profile

hmtoggle_arrow1New Monitored Volume Panel

The monitored volume panel now use the generic page. All entities related to monitored volume can be created and modified from this page. The porous surface are now supported for AIRBAG1 and COMMU1. It is also possible to convert old airbag definition (AIRBAG, COMMU, FMVBAG) to the new format (AIRBAG1, COMMU1, FMVBAG1).

hmtoggle_arrow1Support of XELEM (Multi-Strand Elements)

Multi-strand elements can now be created from the Seatbelt Generator page.

hmtoggle_arrow1Enhanced Extraction

A new extraction logic is available and can be activated by activating the environment variable HC_ADVANCED_CONNECTION_EXTRACTION in the hypercrash.tcl file. This new extraction logic does not change the model definition.

The connection are extracted based on part name, logical connection are created by type and organized into the corresponding panel. Automatically organized into the correct connection type.

If the environment variable is activated, HyperCrash will propose to automatically extract the connection from the imported file (if any detected).

hmtoggle_arrow1Keyword Support

Newly supported keywords:

/SURF/BRIC/FREE
/SURF/BRIC/EXT
/MAT/LAW84
/FAIL/EMC
/MAT/GAS/CSTA

Updated keywords:

Failure model: FLD, TBUCTHER
Interface: Type2, Type6, Type7, Type11, Type16, Type19, Type24
Material: Law2, Law32, Law43. Law52, Law58, Law59, Law70, Law73, Law77, Law83
Monitored Volume: AIRBAG, AIRBAG1, COMMU1, FMVBAG1, PRESS
Property: Type4, Type8, Type12, Type13, Type17, Type19, Type43
/SENSOR/INTER
/DAMP and /DAMP/INTER

LS-DYNA User Profile

hmtoggle_arrow1Support of #SET_TYPE_GENERAL

Creation and modification of all *SET_TYPE_GENERAL is now available from the Set panel.

hmtoggle_arrow1Keep Data After *END

All information stored after *END that HyperCrash does not recognize is now maintained in I/O. This allows users to keep comments or metadata written by other pre-processors.

Note that only I/O is ensured; the information that is not supported will not be updated during the session in case of renumbering, delete, remeshing, and so on.

hmtoggle_arrow1Keyword Support

The following materials are newly supported:

*MAT_024_HAZ
*MAT_219
*MAT_230
*MAT_266
*MAT_272

The following keywords were updated to LS-DYNA R7:

*CONTROL_CONTACT
*MAT_106
*MAT_125
*MAT_169
*MAT_ADD_EROSION

hmtoggle_arrow1Solver Conversion

The following enhancements were made on the conversion from LS-DYNA to RADIOSS:

*MAT163 is converted into LAW33
*MAT_S05 is converted into spring TYPE13
*MAT_S08 is converted into spring TYPE13
*MAT_HILL_FOAM is converted into LAW62
*MAT_OGDEN_RUBBER is converted into LAW42

The following enhancements were made on the conversion from OptiStruct to RADIOSS:

CELAS1 and CELAS2 are converted into spring type8
PBEAML and PBARL are converted into beam type3
SET GRID and SET ELEM are converted into equivalent node and elements sets
An HTML conversion report is generated in the directory in which the OptiStruct or Nastran model is read

hmtoggle_arrow1Resolved Issues
Conversion from OptiStruct to RADIOSS of second order tetra elements was incorrect.
Converting BRICK20 to SHELL16 elements lead to a crash
Direction of the isoparametric frame for brick element was incorrect in the RADIOSS Block user profile
Mesh size was taken into account when checking for initial penetration of *CONTACT_SURFACE_TO_SURFACE; *CONTACT_NODE_TO_SURFACE in LS-DYNA user profile
Resolved several issues on interface type24:
-Visualization (slave/master)
-Conversion from type7 to type24
-Mandatory fields
-Model checker
