The Gears panel allows you to create a constraint that relates the motion of two joints.

Gears panel - Connectivity tab

The following options are available on the Connectivity tab:

 

Joint1

The first joint to be constrained by the coupler.

 

Joint2

The second joint to be constrained by the coupler.

Origin

 

 

Point

The location at which the constraint will be placed.

Alignment

 


 

Point

The point used to define the direction of the gear.

 

Vector

The direction of the gear.

1.From the Project Browser, select the system to which the gear is to be added.
2.Right-click on a system folder in the Project Browser and select Add > Constraint > Gear from the context menu.

OR

-Right-click on a gear folder in the Project Browser and select Add Gear from the context menu.

OR

-Right-click the Gear button entityGears-24 on the Constraint toolbar.

The Add Gear dialog is displayed.

3.The parent system name is displayed in the System field.
4.Enter a label in the Label: field, if you want to use a different label than the default.
5.Enter a variable name in the Variable: field, if you want to use a different variable name than the default.
6.Under Note:, enter any notes.
7.Click OK.

The new gear type is added.
