Use the Results Curves panel to create curves by extracting data from an HyperMesh binary results file.
This function is useful after running a model because it allows you to display the data in a two-dimensional format as an xy plot. Once the curve is created, you can integrate the curve and inspect points.
The along nodes and position subpanels allow you to create a contour plot of the model and then select nodes along a path or select nodes that are then used in the order in which they occur along a specified axis.
For more information, see the Integrate and Query Curves panels.
Subpanels and Inputs
The Result Curves panel contains the following subpanels and command buttons:
Panel Inputs
Input
Action
plot = / create new plot
Click the switch to select create new plot or plot =.
• | If you select create new plot, a new plot is created and the plot is assigned a default title. You can change the name of the new plot by using the Rename panel. |
• | If you select plot =, click plot = and select the plot in which you want display the new curve. |
x data type =
Click x data type = and select the type of data that should appear on the x axis.
If the data are in vector format, you can extract the components or the magnitude of the vector. Click the switch after x data type = to change the data that is extracted from the database.
y data type =
Click y data type = and select the type of data that should appear on the y axis.
If the data are in vector format, you can extract the components or the magnitude of the vector. Click the switch after y data type = to change the data that is extracted from the database.
nodes/elems
Click the entity selector switch and select nodes or elems as the data type. Then, indicate which nodes or elements you want to include on the curve by picking them on your model, or click the data type and choose from the extended entity selection menu.
start with =
Select the first simulation to be used.
end with =
Select the last simulation to be used.
Comments
The entities you select for this function must be currently displayed.
If you try to include non-complex data on a plot created for real/imag or phase/mag plots, the error message, "Scalar data cannot be added to a complex plot." is displayed.

simulation =
Click this and select the simulation to be used in the calculation of the contour.
data type =
Click this and select the data type to be used in the calculation of the contour.
multiplier =
Type in a value by which to multiply the data, if you need to enhance or minimize the visible differences between data points.
total disp /
x comp /
y comp /
z comp
Click the switch if you want to change from total disp to x comp, y comp, or z comp.
By default, the total displacement (total disp) of the node is used as the value in the assignment, if displacements are being used to calculate the assignments.
A component of displacement can be used by selecting x comp, y comp, or z comp from the switch.
node list
Pick the nodes that you want included in the curve calculation.
If node list is active after you have selected the nodes, the nodes are highlighted in the sequence in which they were selected.
