To add a HyperMesh model to HyperStudy:

Add a HyperMesh model in the Define models step
Drag-and-drop a .hm file directly into HyperStudy
Start HyperStudy from the Application menu in HyperMesh

In either use case, you have direct access to the HyperMesh database of the model to perform easy design parameterization. One of the supported user profiles has to be loaded, and HyperMesh needs to be kept open for the entire duration of the study.

The following user profiles and solvers are supported:

Abaqus
ANSYS
LS-DYNA
Nastran
OptiStruct
PAM-CRASH 2G
RADIOSS

User defined HyperMesh parameters and solver dependent HyperMesh database parameters can be imported to HyperStudy. For more information on user defined HyperMesh parameters refer to Create and Assign a New Parameter to a Solver Entity in the HyperMesh User's Guide. A detailed list of HyperMesh database parameters is given below:

hmtoggle_plus1Model Parameters Available from a HyperMesh Database
Note:No dot (.), star (*), or double quotes (" ") can be used in names in HyperMesh if the corresponding entities are used in the design parameterization.

Description

Mass

There are several types of mass elements like PLINK, MASS, etc.  When the mass element type is MASS, the following are the DVs:

When the mass is defined for an element, only one variable AddM is a DV.

When the mass is not defined while creating the mass element, but it is specified on the card editor as AddMX, AddMY, and AddMZ, these three variables will be the DVs.

Thickness

PART_2D component card (field h in the card editor).

Stiffness

Defined on the Material card MAT_1-D for spring stiffness.  Material type 220, stiffness Kro, Kso, Kto, Kmro, Kmso, and Kmto are supported.

When model shapes are used as input variables, some variable values can lead to mesh alterations. If the auto QA or check negative jacobians options are activated in the HyperMesh Morph panel, user interaction may be required. It is recommended that you turn off these options in HyperMesh.
